Turning sustainability into strategy

As climate change dominates the agenda for businesses across the globe, sustainability governance has become a survival strategy. Infranode’s proactive approach has positioned Yilport ahead of EU regulations, turning decarbonization into a competitive edge. We spoke with Eryn Dinyovszky, CEO of Yilport Nordics, on how Infranode’s support has strengthened their sustainability governance.

How has Infranode supported Yilport’s sustainability governance?

Infranode has been instrumental in the development of our sustainability governance, also before the latest developments in regulation coming from the EU. They have been very active owners in this regard, ensuring that we future proof our sustainability efforts to meet new reporting standards.

What opportunities and challenges do you anticipate in Yilport’s journey towards Net Zero?

Reaching Net Zero naturally requires us to make large investments in our operations and in our equipment. While this is rather challenging, these kinds of long-term value-creating decisions are what Infranode specialises in. We also see great opportunities in the journey to Net Zero. As an operator of maritime ports, our ability to offer services with Net Zero emissions will be increasingly important.

Why does governance matter from a sustainability perspective?

Good sustainability governance is no longer a “nice to have” but has essentially become a licence to operate. I believe that sustainability will come to join financial reporting as an accounting standard. In this sense, establishing good sustainability governance principles is essential to the long-term viability of all businesses.
