Infranode acquires urban mobility infrastructure in Carlsberg Byen, Copenhagen

Infranode has entered into an agreement to acquire 100 percent of Carlsberg Byen Parking P/S, which owns and operates 15 parking facilities in Carlsberg Byen in central Copenhagen, with a total of 2,874 parking spaces spread across approximately 96,000 square meters.

Carlsberg Byen’s underground infrastructure offers more than traditional parking. The facilities are interconnected underground and linked to the surrounding buildings, forming a cohesive urban mobility network. This lets residents, visitors, and employees drive straight underground on arrival and reach their destination quickly and easily.

“The facilities are key to Carlsberg Byen’s vision of becoming a modern and attractive district. By moving traffic underground, we’re helping create a more pedestrian-friendly environment with fewer cars on the streets, improving both how the area functions and how it feels to be there,” says Silas Harbo, Country Manager and Partner at Infranode.

Carlsberg Byen is one of Copenhagen’s most successful urban development projects and is now nearing full build-out, with approximately 8,000 permanent residents. More than 99 percent of the approximately 2,850 planned homes have already been sold. In addition, more than 50 companies with around 12,000 employees are based in Carlsberg Byen.

As the neighborhood continues to grow, Infranode will help make sure the parking facilities keep pace and continue to support a district that residents, employees, and visitors rely on every day.

“Most people don’t think about parking, until they’re stuck spending 30 minutes looking for a spot. But parking is essential to making a new district like Carlsberg Byen work in everyday life. This neighborhood is well on its way, and we want to help make sure the infrastructure keeps up with that growth,” says Silas Harbo.

Carlsberg Byen sits in the Vesterbro-Kongens Enghave district. The part of Copenhagen expected to see the highest population growth through 2035. That puts real demands on the area’s parking facilities, which need to be modern, reliable, and able to scale as new residents, companies, and visitors arrive.

“Naturally, our ambition is for the facilities to primarily serve the public and companies in Carlsberg Byen. But over time, they could also become a resource for a wider part of Vesterbro-Kongens Enghave, benefiting the public and companies across the whole area. We believe these facilities will play an important role for the district as a whole,” says Silas Harbo.
